Creating colour combinations

By using the logic of the Natural Colour System, you can easily generate harmonising colour palettes within NCS+, both on mobile and on the web.

On Mobile

Click on any colour or product, then click on the Combinations tab on the details screen. Scroll down to the type of combination (nuance-, hue-, blackness-, chromaticness- or whiteness similarity) that you would like to make. Click on the suggested combination in question, which brings up a 50/50 split screen with your selected colour / product and the combination colour. By clicking on the combination colour, you can add the combination colour to for example a mood board that you are working on.

On the Web

Option 1 (Pro feature)

If you have a moodboard with the colour or product that you want to combine with something, it's very easy to find colours and products that harmonize with it.

  1. Navigate to Boards
  2. Click on the moodboard you're working with
  3. Click on Free form in the sub-menu 
  4. Select the colour or product that you want to get suggestions for
  5. Click on the Combinations icon in the contextual menu above the selected colour
  6. Optional: Select if you want to combine with colours or different types of products from the drop-down in the top-left corner of the Combinations modal
  7. Hit Spacebar or click on the Refresh button to get new suggestions
  8. Click on any combination that you're interested in, it will automatically get added to the board.

Option 2:

Click on any colour or product, then on the Combinations tab on the details screen. In the left-side panel, select any for which brand you are interested, and which combination type you are looking for. By selecting a type of combination in the left panel, the suggested combinations list is updated at the bottom of the page. Click on any of the colours and/or products to add them to your combination selection. When you are done, click on Add to workspace to add them to your workspace, or Add to board in order to add them directly to a mood board. 

To remove a combination from the selected combinations, simply hover over the item and click on the Trash can icon, or click again on the colour / product in the list of suggested combinations. 

Tip: You can move the selected combinations to the left and right in order to check them side by side.
