Exporting moodboards (Pro feature)

On desktop

To export a moodboard on the web

  1. Click on Boards
  2. Select the moodboard you want to export
  3. In the right corner of the sub menu, click on Export
  4. Select the file format to which you want to export the moodboard.

You can export mood boards into a number of different formats, including

  • Image (free form only): While in free form mode you can save any section of the canvas into an image by clicking Save as Image. A frame while appear which you can drag to crop just the part of the canvas that you want to export.
    • Tip: By clicking on the three dots (...) in the top right corner, you can show / hide notes, colour names and the grid lines on the canvas, making it possible to export the image just the way you need.
  • .ase: or software such as Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator / InDesign, Affinity, Figma and others. .ase files also allows you to select whether you want to export sRGB or HEX values.
  • SVG / PNG: For rendering in presentations and illustrations. 
    • Note: SVG export also allows you to export with or without the NCS notation written on the colour samples
  • Comma-separated values (CSV): For Excel and other data processing software,
  • Vectorworks (XML): For use in Vectorworks CAD software.
    • Note: By using the Vectorworks NCS+ plugin available for Vectorworks 2024 and later, your exported NCS+ Vectorworks XML files will be automatically stored in the correct folder for the Vectorworks Palette Manager.
  • Palette CAD (pcadshop): For use in Palette CAD software.
  • Colour Exchange Format (CxF3): Spectral data for, for example, printing software when matching spot colours.
  • PDF: Exports the colours and images as as PDF file for sharing.

Note: You currently cannot export saved scans from your Colourpin II/Pro. If you want to export scans, you will need to save the closest standard NCS colour to your moodboard.
