Extracting the closest NCS colour from images (Pro feature)

Decode any image into their closest NCS colour codes

You can extract one or more NCS codes from images you have taken with your phone or found on the web.

On desktop

  1. Click on Find and then on Image Extract in the main menu
  2. Upload the image you want to extract colours from by dragging and dropping it, or by clicking the Upload image button
  3. Click anywhere on the image to extract colour(s) from it
  4. Add the extracted colours to one of your moodboards by clicking on the Add to board button, or Upload new image to start over.

Pro Tip:

  • You can extract more than one colour from the image, as well as move any pins you have already placed on the image to adjust the extracted colour.
  • If you are unsure on whether you want to save the colour to a moodboard, you can save it to your Workspace by hovering over the colour and clicking on the sign in the top right corner of the colour card.

On Mobile

  1. Go to Search in the main menu
  2. Click on the Camera icon in the top-right corner (next to Filters)
  3. Select From camera or From photo library
    1. From camera: Take the picture
    2. From gallery: Select the image that you want to extract from
  4. Optionally: Crop the image if you only want to extract from a portion of the app and click Choose
  5. Tap anywhere on the image, or drag the markers around to search for the closest NCS notation
    1. You can remove a marker that you've placed by dragging and dropping it below the image to the Trash area
  6. Click on Next
  7. Select whether you want to 
    1. Save to moodboard to save the extracted colours and the image
    2. Share and select an app (like WhatsApp, Messenger, Email, Message, etc.) to share it via
    3. Upload new image to start over with a new image

Hint

  • You can tap on any extracted colours to learn more about it.
  • You can extract colours from images directly from within Free Form Moodboards on the Web by clicking on the Pipette icon in the left-hand toolbar when inside of a Moodboard on the Free Form tab.
